In the beginning, after the first bags were finished, the young company had run out of money and could not afford buckles that were able to hold a fully-loaded bike bag. This is where the trip to the junkyard comes in. They found the buckles from safety belts of junkyard cars did the trick.

Today junkyard buckles aren’t used any longer, you get all new buckles, clips and loops. But some of the clips still have the look and the function of safety belt buckles, these days, they are specifically built for Chrome, however.
